On Friday, February 5, 2010, the San Marcos Standards of Excellence Showroom is awarded the Medium-sized Business of the Year by the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and is further recognized by the San Marcos City Council.

Awarded the Don Marrell Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to the San Diego Chapter of the ASID.

SAN DIEGO – Standards of Excellence Appliances and Decorative Plumbing was honored at the San Diego American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) chapter’s annual holiday gala at the Prado Restaurant in Balboa Park on Sunday, December 6, 2009. Standards of Excellence received the prestigious “Don Marrell Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to the San Diego Chapter”, an award that is presented to an ASID industry partner member who actively promotes and supports the interior design community through their professional contributions.

Don Marrell owned and operated La Jolla Lighting for over thirty years and was one of the ASID’s earliest Industry Partner Members. As far back as those in the design community knew him can remember, Don and his staff were always there to support the San Diego ASID chapter and members with unparalleled generosity. Working tirelessly, he gave both time and treasure whenever called upon. To honor his memory and acknowledge his outstanding contributions to the local ASID chapter and industry, an award was established in his name to acknowledge other Industry Partner members, who like Don give outstanding service to the chapter and to the profession.

Jarrod Galm, Marketing Manager for Standards of Excellence, accepted the award from last year’s recipient, Mark Gauvin. “We appreciate the support of the design community and look forward to continuing our partnership with the ASID for many years to come. This is a humbling honor and we appreciate the opportunity to work with you. Best wishes for the balance of the year and in 2010,” he remarked.

The award is given annually to one deserving industry partner member.
